DCS Parent Teacher Fellowship Committees

2010

1) Grounds Keeping

Responsibilities include mowing grass (with the exception of football and baseball fields), weed eating around buildings and fences, and assisting with landscaping. Currently, this committee has the greatest need for volunteers!

2) Special Events

Assist with set up & decorations (if needed), hospitality, and/or refreshments for the special events held at DCS. Chairperson needed for each event.

3) PTF Representative (Grades 5-12)

One to two representatives are needed for each classroom in grades 5-12. Responsible for bringing the needs or concerns of your teacher or class parents to the attention of the PTF Council. Contact parents for Teacher Appreciation snacks.

4) Room Mom/Dad (Grades K5-4)

A room mom or dad is needed for grades K5-4. The room parent will assist the teacher as needed with organizing class parties, recruiting parents to take the class to lunch and/or recess, reading, assisting within the classroom, and/or assisting with field trips. Some teachers may already have room mom's, if you would like to help in this way, please check with your child's teacher to see if a room mom is needed. For this first year, we are asking the room mom's if they would also consider being the PTF Rep for your class. If not, then we would like an additional parent to take this responsibility.

4) Public Relations

Submitting articles to the Dillon Herald about activities at the school. Being a liaison between the churches, community and DCS.

5) Playground Development

DCS plans to relocate the playground to the area between the cafeteria and the gym. This committee would assist in the restructuring of the playground, which includes selection of equipment and design. Workers are also needed to help with the constructing and tear down of playground.

6) Cafeteria

Updating tables and chairs in Warrior Hall, assessing the nutritional status of foods served and providing healthy options, and assisting in maintaining kitchen equipment (including cleaning). With these updates, we would like to start a salad bar / hot cooked meal – we will then need cafeteria volunteers. It may begin with one day a week. Specifics to be determined later by Chairperson. If we could get all parents to sign up for one day, we would only have to serve once!!

7) Parents Prayer Group

Those willing to pray for the spiritual concerns of the school. Address spiritual growth, maturity and learning of students and their families. Meet at 7:45 a.m. on the first day of the week.

8) Fundraising

A. Scrip (Gift Card) Program : Scrip is an ongoing fundraising program. DCS purchases gift cards at a discounted rate and resells them at face value. Scrip is an easy way to raise money using your everyday purchases.

B. Box Tops : An ongoing fundraising program where parents clip box tops from hundreds of products. Each box top coupon is worth 10 cents for our school. Help organize and get parents clipping!

C. Bilo Boosters Plus : Also an ongoing fundraiser, which provides a simple way to donate to the school. Every time you use your BI-LO Bonus Card, BI-LO will donate 1% of your total purchase. Committee will help in getting parents signed up for this program.

**Chairperson's are needed for each of these committees. A Chairperson will not be responsible for all the work for the event. Rather you will work as a bigger team with other parents. You will be the go to person and will help plan, coordinate, schedule, and recruit for your committee. If you are willing to be the chairperson for one of the above committees please note on your Volunteer Questionnaire.
