MISSION TRIP- 2011
Joshua 1:9 states, "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go."
In just two short weeks our journey will begin! We are so excited to see God work in countless ways in the upcoming weeks. Our prayer is that our hearts will be open to see God's hands do mighty things as we follow Him into a new and exciting place. Please pray that we will make an impact on the people of Costa Rica and that through this experience our hearts will be broken as we see the unexpected and experience God in an entirely new way.
Daily stories and pictures will be added to this site so that you can experience with us as our time in Costa Rica unfolds...let the countdown begin!
It is hard to believe that 2 weeks from today we leave for an amazing week in Costa Rica! I look forward to sharing daily with each of you through the blog all of the amazing things God will be doing. The blog will be available for you to view beginning tomorrow. The address is: http://www.dcscostarica.blogspot.com/ Tomorrow we have an all day mission preparation day at Camp Rockfish. The staff will lead the students in various team building exercises, ministry challenges, and organization sessions. In addition, Doug Newton has a special presentation for each student. Our blog will begin tomorrow and countdown the days until we leave. Please be in prayer for the entire team! God is certainly working in the lives of our seniors. We have TWENTY seniors going to serve God at 2 different mission sites. One site is a church and the other is a children's home and daycare. Our seniors will spend the mornings doing construction, cleaning, and painting. During the afternoons, they will hold VBS for approximately 75 children each day. They have organized stories, crafts, games, and songs. I am so proud of the excitement and desire to serve this group is expressing! Joshua Expeditions, the ministry we are working with, has sent some items their ministries could use. Please keep in mind that we will have weight limits to our luggage. I have encouraged the students to pack as lightly as possible. We will divide the items we receive and take them to share with the ministry sites. If you would like to donate an item, or a financial gift for us to give the missionaries, please take them to the school office. Thank you for all of the words of encouragement, support through fund raising, and prayers. We are blessed with the privilege to share the Good News of Jesus Christ as ambassadors of DCS. Keep on praying! Class of 2011 Costa Rica Missions Team
